CEO / Owner

Joe Kay, better known as “Joe Bob” or “The Car Dad of Georgetown,” has lived in Central Texas most of his life. He worked as a truck driver before meeting his wife Brenda; Soon, he found himself making a career change and worked for Amco Transmission as an auto mechanic. In 1994 he purchased Georgetown Interstate Transmission & Auto Repair (G.I.T.A.R.) previously known as Jim’s Interstate Transmission. Joe Bob enjoys playing pickleball, building houses and spending family time in Georgetown or at his Ranch with his wife, grandchildren, daughters and son in laws!

Accounting Director

The daughter of the owner Joe Bob has grown up around the business her whole life. She always begged her dad to let her work at the shop and finally after 28 years he let her! She has a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice with a background in Criminal Investigations and teaching at Georgetown High School for the last 5 years. She has been married to Landon for 8 years and have 2 beautiful children Layton and Laynie and own an electrical company, Double L Electrical. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family hunting, fishing and riding anything with wheels that goes fast!

Store Manager

Hector Lopez Tafoya, married to Dora (of 30 years married) and have 2 kiddos, Daniel and Isabella who both graduated from GHS, Go Eagles #EFND! He has been in the Automotive Industry since 1991 whoa!! Most of those or rather should say all of them are in sales and management, He did a lot of intercontinental shipping and manufacturing, wheels and tires for the most part of my career. Texas: Him and his wife own property here in Georgetown, they have really enjoyed the community.

Assistant Manager

Brandon started in the industry 8 years ago as a car salesman with Autonation Chevy and went on to work for Nyle Maxwell GMC. Brandon is married to Brooke, one of Joe Bob’s daughters, and they have a little boy, Beau who is 2! Brandon and Brooke bought a home in town and have set their roots in our lovely community. Brandon comes from a family where no one is under 6ft tall, hard to miss us, so he is known to many customers as the “tall guy” at 6’6″.

Service Writer

Maria started with us helping out as needed and we recently brought her on full time! She has been married to her husband Cody for 13 years, they have 3 wonderful children, Lila, Bennett, and Audrie. She has a background in special education and taught at the juvenile probation center before they relocated from Wisconsin in Summer of 2023. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family in her spare time.

Certified Master ASE Technician

He has been a mechanic for 39 years. He started in the Army right out of high school and was in for four years. He specializes in the electronic side of automotive repairs, leaning toward the problem cars with the weird intermittent problems in the computer and electrical systems. Jim has an A.S.E. Master Automobile Technician and an Advanced Engine Performance certification. He has been married for 35 years with three kids.

Certified ASE Technician

Robert has lived in the Austin area his whole life. He has been in the industry for 36 years but had helped his dad work on cars from a young age. Robert is a Certified ASE technician with 5 certifications. He has been happily married for 31 years and has 2 grown boys, one of which is also in the automotive industry, and 1 beautiful grandchild. In his spare time, Robert enjoys going bowling.

Certified Master ASE Technician

Ian is a UTI Graduate in Automotive and Diesels specializing in Ford and Cummins. He is ASE Certified in multiple fields and recently obtained his Master Certification as well. He is originally from California but has been in Georgetown since he was 10. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Landry, and they welcomed their first baby boy, Carter into the world this year! He enjoys working on anything with a motor or 2 wheels!

Master ASE Technician

Matt was born and raised in the austin area and has been in the automotive field since 2009. He is married to his wife Brittany and they have a beautiful baby girl, Emma. He strives to say up to date with the latest in automotive technology and diagnostic information. He is master certified and also has Advanced engine performance as well and hybrid engine performance certifications.

Lube Technician

He was born and raised in Georgetown, TX. He has been in the industry for 11 years but has been working on cars much longer. He has been with the team here for 9 years! Kent has 3 wonderful children and he enjoys spending time outdoors with them. When Kent isn’t working on cars, he also likes building screened porches.

Lube Technician

Brandon is certified through ACC in Automotive Basics and came to us with experience from a Ford Dealership. He has been in the Georgetown area for almost 5 years since he moved from his home town in New Jersey. He enjoys technology and working in cars in his spare time. He has been with us for over 2 years and is engaged to his fiance Meagan.
